Greyscale Palette - 6 Half Pans

Greyscale Palette

This greyscale palette features a mixture of white, grey and black. Gofun Shirayuki - Oyster Shell White, a traditional Japanese white used in Nihonga Painting. This pigment is made by oyster shells being left outside for 5-10 years and leave behind pearl white flakes. Slate Grey - - a natural stone chalk that’s light grey in colour. Slate Green Grey - Natural green stone chalk that’s green grey in colour. Burgundy Grey - a light brownish grey clay from Burgundy, Eastern France. Mels grey - a granular dark grey from Switzerland and Charcoal Black, all in a reusable and portable tin.
This palette creates wonderful mixes of grey tones, handmade watercolours create a mixture of textures and granulations.

Colour indexs: Mels Grey - PBk 19.7 , Burgundy Gray - N/A, Slate Grey - Bk11/G17 , Slate green - N/A, Gofun Shirayuki - N/A and Charcoal Black - PBk 8.7 .

All colours have *** (excellent) lightfastness. Handmade paints work differently from commercial paints, no two are the same. They differ in texture and properties, some watercolours (especially the gem stone like peach agate/garnet/amazonite) tend to sit on the surface of the paper. Each one is hand mulled in micro batches and in multiple layers to ensure each pan is filled. I use my own binder consisting of spring water, kordofan gum arabic, glycerine, local bedfordshire honey and a bit of clove oil. Each pan is labeled and has a magnet so it stays in place.
*subject to availability. Each palette is made with freshly mulled paint to ensure you get no old paint. Please allow around 5-10 business days (not including holidays or weekends) for this item to ship.
